"The Works" is a typeface engineered to embody the ornate and industrial heritage of Peckham Rye Station and its architectural transformation. To capture this, I first looked into the construction of the building, drawing from the renaissance revival-style, taking inspiration from the forms of the walls, the metal engraved railings on the traditional station staircase, and the symmetry of the structure's design.

Additionally, I looked to the business operating adjacent to the station, "TARA FABRICATIONS" who specialise in steel fabrication. Using this mix of ideas to create THE WORKS brought about mechanical serifs, which captures the industrial and traditional aspects of Peckham Rye Station.
