My typeface, The Local, was inspired by the Grove House Tavern pub in Camberwell. While researching the location, I explored the role of third spaces in society and how pub culture in Britain has played an integral part in this. I took inspiration from the water ring left by a pint on a pub table, which symbolises the importance of using these spaces and their deeper purpose in modern society: to slow down, enjoy, and appreciate. To create this, I used variations of circles and a warped stroke style, echoing the worn wood of a pub table.
