I created the Sauce typeface to portray the messy, but somewhat comforting side of Wetherspoons and British pub culture. I did this by physically writing the alphabet out in ketchup and image tracing them in illustrator. I wanted it to give the feeling of food smearing the sauce, as well as the sticky tables and carpets in most pubs in the UK. I wanted to make the font feel nostalgic to people who grew up going to pubs when they were younger to eat out with their families, and show how many people might find the messiness of British pubs but to some people its almost cozy and comforting.
