Relief began with the question: what if you made a letter whose upper extent would form a continuous line no matter the word typed? If one were to imagine a small pedestrian trying to navigate type of most kinds, they would plummet into the abyss at the second letter or sooner. Relief wants to evoke in the eye a path one may take over terrain of various elevation, of the earth beneath one's feet, of a sidewalk with too many other people, and they're all walking next to you, and of the heaviness of a hill walked up.
