The typeface is based on the iconic New Routemaster, the current model used on Bus Route 12 as it travels through Peckham and Camberwell. Designed to feel familiar and approachable, the letterforms are grounded in contemporary sans-serif structures, with softened corners and the shifts in stroke weight reference the Routemaster's window panel design in order to echo the bus's smooth surfaces and circular detailing while also capturing the sense of movement and daily routine that defines its journey.
