Liberty was inspired by the Peckham Liberal Club, a working men's club that has also served as a popular film location. As the building is members-only, I was unable to access its interior directly. This sense of partial visibility informed the design of the typeface, which features deliberately faint and fragile details. Its obscured vintage character influenced the calligraphic qualities of the letterforms. I aimed to create a design that evokes the feeling of a film title, paying homage to the building's cinematic associations and its original construction in 1911.
