Interlink

By Will Skinner

Interlink is a display typeface inspired by Peckham Rye Station, a long-standing Grade II listed building. Interlink was built using a matrix grid, taking inspiration from the orange LED departure boards found on trains and platforms. The design references the station's ornate Victorian architecture through blooming serifs and decorations mirrored from the cast-iron railings on the station. Around 6 million passengers passed through Peckham Rye Station in '24-'25, highlighting its role as a major connection hub. To reflect this, the dots of the matrix grid are smoothed and linked together into connected lines, echoing the stops and routes seen on Harry Becks tube maps and the central theme of connection.
