C Minor

By Carlotta Rizzante

C minor is a display typeface inspired by the musical history of St. Giles Church in Camberwell. I was influenced by St. Giles' organ: it's one of the oldest in the country, and its presence in the church is fundamental for services but also for organised activities like 'Organoke'. The typeface is named after the key to one of my favourite worship songs, 'Ultralight Beam' by Sunday Service Choir. While designing my typeface, I used negative spaces to give the impression of the contrast between the white keys and the black ones on a piano keyboard.
